Hurricane Helene crossed Clinch County on September 27, 2024. The National Weather Service reported houses and cars damaged or destroyed by falling trees, especially in Homerville, and more than 400 power poles broken. The year before, Idalia had dropped the crown of a live oak onto a house roof.
