Needles, cones and pollen: what a Wayne County pine drops
A pine sheds cones, bark and spring pollen, but the needles do the damage. They lie flat in the trough, knit together at the outlet and, left long enough, turn a gutter into a planter.

Jesup
County seatBuilt around an 1869 hotel where two railroads met; the restored 1899 depot is still an Amtrak stop. At about 95 feet it sits lowest of the county’s three towns, so on tight lots downspout placement comes first.
Screven
Rail townA rail stop from the 1850s, chartered in 1907, with 769 residents. Debby snapped big trees across Sharpe and Gaffney streets in 2024, so storm checks here start with hangers under the canopy.
Odum
Highest townIncorporated in 1907, home to 463 people and highest of the three at about 154 feet, with the National Register–listed Ritch–Carter–Martin House at US 341 and GA 27. Older houses often suit the semicircular half-round profile.
Gardi
Turpentine countryLike Madray Springs, a community that turpentine and pine products built. Gardi, a census place of 91 people, lines US 341 at the edge of Jesup. Under standing pine, price micro-mesh guards first.
