Nearly half the houses in Metter’s city limits were built before 1980 and about one in four before 1960, Census estimates show. Many of their gutters hang on fascia that has soaked up years of overflow.

USDA surveys rate about two-thirds of Candler’s soil moderately well to excessively drained, from Tifton soils to loose Kershaw sand. A downspout emptying in one spot washes that sand from beside the slab.

Helene downed trees across the county in 2024 and cut power to all of it. In May 2025 a windstorm put a tree through a roof on Hadden Road.

July is the wettest month at NOAA’s Metter station, at 5.61 inches, and about 15 days a year bring an inch or more. That normal rests on roughly ten years of data, not the usual thirty.

Usually. Half-round often suits a house of that age, and we form half-round and K-style in 6-, 7- and 8-inch sizes. If a change of profile might need a sign-off, ask the city first.
No. A seamless run is one piece from corner to corner, so a badly kinked run is replaced whole, but only that run. Sound walls stay, and cracked fascia behind the damage is repaired first.
It is one reason we space hidden hangers closely. The February 2014 ice storm brought a federal disaster declaration here, and Metter saw about three inches of snow and sleet in January 2025. Under ice, old spike hangers let go first.
