Timber built this county. Heavy forest still covered 80% of it in 1950, and Dixon Memorial State Forest, about 35,000 acres of mostly slash, longleaf and loblolly pine, straddles the Ware County line.

The Highway 82 Fire, started April 20, 2026, burned about 22,400 acres, spreading east toward Atkinson and forcing evacuations along GA 110 and Browntown Road.
The National Fire Protection Association says embers and small flames are the main way homes ignite in a wildfire, and the first item on its Firewise USA list for the house itself reads: clean roofs and gutters of dead leaves, debris and pine needles that could catch embers.
The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety adds metal gutters in place of plastic, under noncombustible guards. No gutter makes a house fireproof. Rhino metal mesh keeps needles out of the trough itself, though straw can still settle on top and should be brushed off before a dry spell.

The seat since 1923, with 1,013 residents. Its old depot stood on stilts over swampy ground; about half its homes predate 1980, so fascia gets checked before new runs are priced.

Debby washed out Fort Mudge Road in August 2024, when a gauge south of Nahunta caught 7.69 inches. Rain like that calls for more outlets, not just a cleaning.

(912) 202-0537Yes. Both NFPA’s Firewise USA program and IBHS list gutters, because dry needles in a trough give wind-blown embers a place to catch. Keep troughs clear, and choose metal gutters and guards over vinyl or plastic.
Once the roof and fascia are done: a gutter hangs on the fascia, and Gutter Solutions LLC doesn’t do roofing. Before then, tell us where the septic field and drive will go and how the lot will be graded, so each downspout empties away from the house and field.
Away from the drainfield. EPA guidance is to keep roof water off it, since flooding the field slows or stops treatment. Show us the tank and field, and we route each downspout the other way.
Yes. Brantley’s zoning even has its own district for manufactured housing parks. We check park rules with the owner or manager first, then run the downspouts clear of the skirting and the lot next door. Federal rules also make the maker’s instructions say whether the home suits gutters; keep that booklet if you have it.
On a few lots. USDA soil data rate only about 5% of the county moderately well to excessively drained. Nearly all the rest, including Leon, a sandy flatwoods soil, drains somewhat poorly to very poorly, and a pipe buried in it can sit full of water.
So on most Brantley lots we fit extensions to the low side of the yard instead. On a sandy rise with lower ground nearby, a buried line can work once we have checked the fall.
At least twice a year under heavy pine, plus a check after any tropical storm, and more often if pines stand on several sides of the house. Our seasonal cleaning schedule has the details.
Often they can go back up: a straight trough on sound fascia needs only new hidden hangers and resealed corners. A kinked run, or a rotten board behind it, means replacing that section first.
